FreeNo account needed to read a group

Split the bill. Send one link.

SplitPop keeps track of who paid what, in any currency, and works out the fewest payments to settle up. Friends open the link and see everything, no account and no app.

  • Free, no card
  • Several payers per expense
  • Any currency, converted
An example: Mia asks her assistant to add the groceries to “Lake weekend”. Her phone shows what the group owes her and the balances, and the settle-up plan is two payments to her. The names and amounts are made up.

How it works

Four steps. No spreadsheet.

From an empty group to a settled weekend. Each step is one screen in the app.

  1. 01

    Start a group

Sign in once, name it, pick a currency and add people by name. They need no account.

  2. 02

    Add what was spent

Who paid, one person or several, and who it was for. You see every share before you save.

  3. 03

    Settle up

SplitPop turns every expense into balances and the fewest payments that settle them.

  4. 04

    Send one link

Paste it into the chat you are already in. Everyone reads the whole group, with no sign-up.

The settle-up plan

Six debts in. Two payments out.

Same trip, same balances. SplitPop finds the fewest payments that settle everyone, so nobody has to do the arithmetic.

Direct debts: the original pairs

6payments · EUR 130.00 moved

6 payments, the original pairs: Ben to Jonas 20.00, Ben to Lea 4.00, Ben to Mia 26.00, Jonas to Mia 6.00, Lea to Jonas 36.00, Lea to Mia 38.00.MMia EUR 70.00JJonas EUR 50.00BBen -EUR 50.00LLea -EUR 70.0020.004.0026.006.0036.0038.00

Simplified: the fewest payments

2payments · EUR 120.00 moved

2 payments, the fewest: Lea to Mia 70.00, Ben to Jonas 50.00.MMia EUR 70.00JJonas EUR 50.00BBen -EUR 50.00LLea -EUR 70.0070.0050.00

Balances stay exactly the same: Mia EUR 70.00 · Jonas EUR 50.00 · Lea -EUR 70.00 · Ben -EUR 50.00

Both are modes of the Balances screen; a group's settings choose which one it uses.

Example group “Coast road trip”. The names and amounts are made up.

Use it in ChatGPT or Claude

Or just say it in your chat.

Connect SplitPop to your assistant once. Then tell it who paid what: SplitPop records it in your group and answers with cards you can act on.

An example conversation: Ben asks his assistant to split a pizza night with Noor and Ada. The assistant reads back the amount and the split, waits for his yes, and SplitPop shows the added expense as a card with an Undo button. The names and amounts are made up.
  • “Split this receipt with Mia and Jonas.”
  • “Who owes whom in “Lake weekend”?”
  • “Settle up the trip.”
  • “What did we spend on food in August?”
  • SplitPop tells the assistant to read back the amount, who paid and the split, and to wait for your yes before it records an expense or a payment or changes who is in a group.
  • It acts as you, with your role in each group, and can never do more than you can in the app.
How to set it up

Features

Everything a shared pot needs. Nothing it doesn’t.

Built for the phone in your pocket: big targets, one thing at a time, and the amount always first.

All features
  • Any currency, both amounts kept

Enter a bill as you paid it. SplitPop records it in the group’s currency at the rate of the day and keeps the original amount and the rate with it. Every reader can see the group in their own currency, as an estimate next to the real amount.

  • Several payers

Two cards, one bill. Enter everyone who put money in, with their amount; SplitPop checks that the payers add up to the total before you save.

  • Receipts on the expense

Attach the photo or the PDF to the expense. In a public group it is part of what the link shows.

  • Categories and where the money went

Each expense gets a category, suggested from its title. The group sees its spending by category, person and month.

  • A chat for the group

Talk about the bill right next to it. The activity shows what was added and changed, and by whom.

  • Private when you want it

Switch a group to private and its link shows only the name and the way to ask for access. You can still publish one single expense on its own link.

What it costs

Free. No catch.

SplitPop itself is free to use. It has no paid plan, no trial that ends and nowhere to enter a card: there is nothing in the product to pay for. What an assistant’s own plan includes is up to its provider.

  • No card
  • No paid plan
  • No sign-up to read a group

FAQ

Before you start

Short answers to what people ask first.

More answers on the help page

Is SplitPop really free?

Yes. There is no paid plan, no trial and no card field anywhere in the product.

Who needs an account?

Whoever creates the group signs in. Everyone else reads it from the link without one, and only needs an account to add something, change something or join.

How do several payers work?

Enter each payer with the amount they put in; together they have to match the expense. Who the expense is for is a separate step: equally, by shares, by percent or by fixed amounts.

Can I keep a group private?

Yes. Group settings switch it to private, and its link then shows only the group name and the way to ask for access. You can still publish one single expense out of a private group.

Which currency does a group use?

One currency per group, chosen when it is created. Any expense can be entered in another one, and every reader can have the whole group converted into the currency they think in.

Does SplitPop move money?

No. It records who paid what and who owes whom. A payment in SplitPop is a record of money that changed hands somewhere else.

Which assistants can I use?

ChatGPT, Claude and any other client that speaks MCP. The page for AI assistants shows how to add SplitPop to ChatGPT and Claude, and links the developer reference for the other clients.
