# SplitPop > Split and settle shared expenses with friends. One link per group: a new > group is public by default, and a public group's pages read in full for > anyone in a browser, with or without an account. A private group's link > shows only its name and a request to join. SplitPop is a free web app for groups that pay for things together: trips, flat shares, couples, events. Expenses can have several payers and any currency, and SplitPop works out who owes whom and the fewest payments that settle the group. Whoever creates a group signs in; friends read the group's link in any browser without an account. It can also be added to ChatGPT and Claude: a person tells their assistant who paid what, and SplitPop records it and shows balances, new expenses, settle-up plans and spending as cards in the chat. How to add it: https://www.splitpop.app/en/ai/chatgpt (ChatGPT, in developer mode; OpenAI's help centre says apps added that way can record only in Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces) and https://www.splitpop.app/en/ai/claude (Claude, as a custom connector on any plan). SplitPop tells the assistant to read back amounts and people and wait for the person's yes before it records an expense or a payment or changes who is in a group. Payments are records of money paid elsewhere; SplitPop never moves money. SplitPop runs a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so an AI agent can read a person's groups and write to them as that person, under the same rules the app applies. - MCP endpoint: https://site.splitpop.app/mcp (Streamable HTTP, POST only) - Authorization: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, discovered from https://site.splitpop.app/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp - Server card: https://site.splitpop.app/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json - Agent sign-in notes: https://www.splitpop.app/auth.md (generated and served by WorkOS AuthKit, the authorization server behind the endpoint) ## For people - [SplitPop](https://www.splitpop.app/en): what it does, in one page. - [How it works](https://www.splitpop.app/en/how-it-works): groups, several payers, currencies, sharing, joining, payments, in more detail. - [Features](https://www.splitpop.app/en/features): everything SplitPop does, one capability at a time. - [Use cases](https://www.splitpop.app/en/use-cases): trips, flatshares, couples and events, each on its own page. - [SplitPop with AI assistants](https://www.splitpop.app/en/ai): ChatGPT and Claude side by side, what to ask, the in-chat cards, staying in control. - [SplitPop in ChatGPT](https://www.splitpop.app/en/ai/chatgpt): how to add it in ChatGPT's developer mode, step by step, and which plans can record. - [SplitPop in Claude](https://www.splitpop.app/en/ai/claude): how to add it as a custom connector, step by step. - [Help and contact](https://www.splitpop.app/en/support): answers to common questions and the support address, support@splitpop.app. - [Deleting an account](https://www.splitpop.app/en/account/delete): what deleting removes and what stays. ## For developers - [SplitPop for AI agents](https://www.splitpop.app/en/docs/ai-agents): the endpoint, how to connect from Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code, the permissions, every tool, the limits, what an agent cannot do, troubleshooting and the changelog. - [House rules for agents](https://www.splitpop.app/ai/SKILL.md): how to use the tools well — money as strings, confirm before writing, one group at a time. - [Agent sign-in notes](https://www.splitpop.app/auth.md). ## Policies - [Privacy](https://www.splitpop.app/en/privacy#ai-connectors) and [Terms](https://www.splitpop.app/en/terms#ai-connectors), both with a section on AI connectors; how long data is kept is at [/privacy#retention](https://www.splitpop.app/en/privacy#retention). - [Imprint](https://www.splitpop.app/en/imprint): who operates SplitPop. - [Security](https://www.splitpop.app/.well-known/security.txt): where to report a vulnerability. ## Deutsch - [SplitPop](https://www.splitpop.app/de) - [So funktioniert es](https://www.splitpop.app/de/how-it-works) - [Funktionen](https://www.splitpop.app/de/features) - [Anwendungsfälle](https://www.splitpop.app/de/use-cases) - [SplitPop mit KI-Assistenten](https://www.splitpop.app/de/ai) - [SplitPop in ChatGPT](https://www.splitpop.app/de/ai/chatgpt) - [SplitPop in Claude](https://www.splitpop.app/de/ai/claude) - [Hilfe und Kontakt](https://www.splitpop.app/de/support) - [SplitPop für KI-Agenten](https://www.splitpop.app/de/docs/ai-agents) - [Datenschutz](https://www.splitpop.app/de/privacy), [Nutzungsbedingungen](https://www.splitpop.app/de/terms), [Impressum](https://www.splitpop.app/de/imprint) ## Notes - Everything the server writes is English: tool names, descriptions and the sentences in results. Names, titles and notes come back as people typed them, and the assistant answers the person in their own language. - A signed-in account changes nothing until it has accepted SplitPop's current terms once in the app; until then every write tool answers with one sentence saying where to accept, and the reads work as usual. - Reading a person's groups needs their consent. A public group reads in full for anyone holding its link, as it does in a browser: without an account through the public tools (`public_group_get`, `public_ledger_list`, `public_expense_get`), and signed in as a guest through the ordinary read tools — either way without anybody's e-mail address. Only its members change it. - A private group reads as not found to anybody outside it, except a single expense it shared on its own link, which `public_expense_get` reads, and its door: a signed-in person holding its link sees its name and how to ask to join (`groups_join_options`), as in the app. - A SplitPop link is accepted wherever a tool asks for a group, expense, payment or contact id. - An expense or a payment is recorded in the currency it was paid in and converted by SplitPop at a rate it fetches itself; only a settle-up plan is recorded in the group's own currency. - The MCP tools that create a group take an optional `visibility` ("PUBLIC" or "PRIVATE"). Left out, the group is public, as in the app, and the agent tells the person so; "PRIVATE" only when the person explicitly says private. - Payments in SplitPop are records of money paid elsewhere. No tool moves money.
