Collect for the present, not for the spreadsheet.

A birthday present, a cake and the decorations, paid by three different people and shared by four. Everyone sees the same numbers from one link.

An example. The names and amounts are made up. Gift for Ben

How it goes

  1. 01

    Start the group

Name it after the occasion, add everyone chipping in, and send the link.

  2. 02

    Add the costs

Whoever buys something adds it. Everyone reads the group live, with no account.

  3. 03

    Settle afterwards

The fewest payments, usually towards whoever paid most. Once each one is paid, “Add payment” records it.

What helps most

  • One link, readable by anyone

A new group is public: its link opens the activity, the expenses with their receipts, the payments, the balances and the people. No account, no app, nothing to install.

  • Guests join when they want to

Reading asks for nothing. To take part, a guest signs in and claims the name that is already theirs, or asks to join as someone new. An admin approves, and a group can close either route.

  • The fewest payments

Balances turn into a settle-up plan: the fewest payments that settle the group, or the original pairs if your group prefers them. A payment records money that changed hands elsewhere; SplitPop never moves money.

With your assistant

SplitPop tells the assistant to read back the amount and the people and to wait for your yes before it records an expense or a payment or changes who is in a group.

Use SplitPop in ChatGPT or Claude
Split the record player between Tom, Eva, Nina and Jonas.

Good to know

  • Reading needs nothing. To add or change something, a guest signs in and claims their name or asks to join, and an admin approves.
  • A payment records money that changed hands elsewhere; SplitPop never moves money.

Questions

Does everyone need to sign up?

No. Whoever creates the group signs in; everyone else reads it from the link. To add something themselves, they sign in and join.

How many people can be in a group?

Up to 50. Add everyone chipping in by name; nobody needs an account to read.

Can the birthday person see it?

Only if they have the link. For a surprise, make the group private: its link then shows only the name and a way to ask for access.
