AI assistants

Use SplitPop with your AI assistant

Tell your assistant what was spent. SplitPop records it in your group and hands back the link your friends open in any browser.

An example conversation: asked who owes whom in a road trip group, SplitPop answers with its settle-up card, two payments and a Mark all as paid button that records payments and moves no money. The names and amounts are made up.

Two assistants

Pick the one you already use

Both reach the same SplitPop account and the same groups. Adding SplitPop works a little differently in each.

  • ChatGPT

You add SplitPop yourself, in ChatGPT’s developer mode on the web. OpenAI’s current help centre says apps added this way can record and change things in Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, and may only read elsewhere. A receipt photo in your message can go straight onto the expense.

  • Claude

You add SplitPop as a custom connector, on any Claude plan including Free; on Team and Enterprise an Owner adds it first. Claude can read your receipt, and you attach the photo from the expense link SplitPop returns.

How it works

Set it up once, then just ask

  1. 01

    Connect SplitPop

Add SplitPop to ChatGPT or Claude by its address. The page for each assistant shows where.

  2. 02

    Sign in once

The assistant sends you to SplitPop’s sign-in page. From then on it acts as you, with your role in each group.

  3. 03

    Ask in plain words

Who owes whom, add the dinner, settle up the trip. The answer comes with the group’s link to send to everyone.

Examples

What you can ask

Plain sentences, in English, German or any other language. What SplitPop does with each:

  • Split this receipt with Mia and Jonas.

SplitPop works out each share and shows the expense as a card. It tells the assistant to read it back and wait for your yes before recording it.

  • Who owes whom in “Lake weekend”?

The settle-up card: what you get back or owe, and the fewest payments that settle the group.

  • Settle up the trip.

The same plan, with a Mark all as paid button for once the money has changed hands. SplitPop records the payments; it never moves money.

  • What did we spend on food in August?

The spending card: what went on each category that month, with arrows to the month before and after.

In the chat

Cards you can act on

When the answer is a plan, a new expense or a set of numbers, SplitPop shows it as a card in the conversation: for settling up, a new expense, balances and spending. A card’s button is your confirmation, and it records exactly what the card shows.

  • Settle upWho pays whom, in the fewest payments, and a button that records them once they are paid.
  • A new expenseEvery share before anything is saved, with a button to add it and an Undo right after.
  • Where the money wentSpending by category, person or month, with arrows to the month before and after.

Example cards with made-up names and amounts. The cards follow the language your ChatGPT or Claude is set to, English or German, and take on its light or dark look.

You decide

You stay in control

  • SplitPop tells the assistant to read back amounts and people and wait for your yes before it records an expense or a payment or changes who’s in a group. ChatGPT and Claude also ask before a tool writes, depending on your settings.
  • An assistant acts as you, with your role in each group, and can never do more than you can in the app.
  • Under Connected apps in your SplitPop profile you see what assistants did for you, and one switch pauses all of them.
  • No assistant can delete your account. Only you can, in the app.
  • Payments are records of money paid elsewhere. SplitPop never moves money.

Questions

Questions and answers

Do my friends need ChatGPT or Claude?

No. The group’s link opens in any browser, and reading a public group needs no account. Whether to use an assistant is up to each person.

What can the assistant see?

SplitPop’s privacy policy puts it this way: the assistant “sees what you can see in SplitPop, with your role in each group, and can do only what you can do.” And: “What an assistant reads leaves SplitPop.” OpenAI or Anthropic then handle it under their own privacy policies.

How do I pause or disconnect it?

In SplitPop, open your profile: under Connected apps, one switch pauses every assistant. To disconnect one, use that assistant’s settings: Settings, Plugins in ChatGPT; Customize, Connectors in Claude. Whatever it recorded stays in the group.

Does it work in German?

Yes. The cards follow the language your ChatGPT or Claude is set to, English or German. The assistant writes its own replies, and ChatGPT and Claude usually answer in the language you write in. SplitPop’s own messages to the assistant are in English.

Do I need a SplitPop account?

Yes, to connect an assistant: it signs in as you. Until you have accepted SplitPop’s terms once in the app, it can read your groups but not change anything.

Does it cost anything?

SplitPop is free, in the browser and through an assistant. Which ChatGPT or Claude plans let you add it is up to OpenAI and Anthropic; the page for each assistant says what they list today.
