SplitPop for Claude

Split expenses right in Claude

Hand Claude a receipt or say who paid what. SplitPop records it in your group and gives you the link to send.

Opens Claude’s Add custom connector dialog with SplitPop filled in; you check it and confirm. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds SplitPop for the organization first.

An example conversation: asked who owes whom in a road trip group, SplitPop answers with its settle-up card, two payments and a Mark all as paid button that records payments and moves no money. The names and amounts are made up.

Examples

What you can ask

Plain sentences, in English, German or any other language. What SplitPop does with each:

  • Split this receipt with Mia and Jonas.

SplitPop works out each share and shows the expense as a card. It tells the assistant to read it back and wait for your yes before recording it.

  • Who owes whom in “Lake weekend”?

The settle-up card: what you get back or owe, and the fewest payments that settle the group.

  • Settle up the trip.

The same plan, with a Mark all as paid button for once the money has changed hands. SplitPop records the payments; it never moves money.

  • What did we spend on food in August?

The spending card: what went on each category that month, with arrows to the month before and after.

  • Add Lea to the group.

Lea joins the group’s people, so expenses can be split with her, if your role in the group lets you add people.

  • I paid Jonas back for the tickets.

A payment from you to Jonas, in the currency you paid in. Everyone’s balances update.

Receipts go on from the expense’s link

Claude can read the photo in your message, but SplitPop can’t receive the file from Claude. SplitPop returns the expense’s link instead, which Claude can share with you, and you attach the photo there in the app.

In the chat

Cards you can act on

When the answer is a plan, a new expense or a set of numbers, SplitPop shows it as a card in the conversation: for settling up, a new expense, balances and spending. A card’s button is your confirmation, and it records exactly what the card shows.

  • Settle upWho pays whom, in the fewest payments, and a button that records them once they are paid.
  • A new expenseEvery share before anything is saved, with a button to add it and an Undo right after.
  • Where the money wentSpending by category, person or month, with arrows to the month before and after.

Example cards with made-up names and amounts. The cards follow the language your ChatGPT or Claude is set to, English or German, and take on its light or dark look.

Setup

Connect SplitPop to Claude

In Claude, SplitPop is a custom connector. Anthropic lists custom connectors for the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans; on Free you can add one. The button fills in Claude’s form for you, or add SplitPop by hand:

Connect to Claude (opens Claude in a new tab)
  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.

  2. Choose Add custom connector. Depending on your account, it sits behind a plus button.

  3. Name it SplitPop, paste the address below and choose Add.

  4. Claude sends you to SplitPop’s sign-in page, right away or the first time a tool needs it. Sign in with your SplitPop account.

  5. In a chat, the Connectors menu behind the plus button turns SplitPop on or off for that conversation.

SplitPop’s address

https://site.splitpop.app/mcp

Copy it into the assistant’s form.

Claude shows SplitPop with the Custom label, which it gives every connector added by its address. Once added on claude.ai or in the desktop app, it also works in the Claude mobile apps.

On a Team or Enterprise plan

An Owner adds SplitPop once for the organization, under Organization settings, Connectors: Add, then Custom, then Web, with the same address; this link opens that dialog with SplitPop filled in (opens Claude in a new tab). Everyone then finds it under Customize, Connectors, and chooses Connect to sign in with their own SplitPop account. Members can’t add it themselves.

Something not working? The troubleshooting list in the developer reference covers signing in, paused access and an out-of-date tool list.

You decide

You stay in control

  • SplitPop tells the assistant to read back amounts and people and wait for your yes before it records an expense or a payment or changes who’s in a group. ChatGPT and Claude also ask before a tool writes, depending on your settings.
  • An assistant acts as you, with your role in each group, and can never do more than you can in the app.
  • Under Connected apps in your SplitPop profile you see what assistants did for you, and one switch pauses all of them.
  • No assistant can delete your account. Only you can, in the app.
  • Payments are records of money paid elsewhere. SplitPop never moves money.
  • To disconnect, choose Disconnect on SplitPop under Customize, Connectors. On Free, Pro and Max you can also remove it there; on Team and Enterprise only an Owner removes it, under Organization settings, Connectors. Your groups stay as they are.

Questions

Questions and answers

Which Claude plans can use it?

Anthropic lists custom connectors for the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. On Free you can add one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise an Owner adds it for the organization. SplitPop itself is free.

Why does Claude call it Custom?

Claude labels every connector you add by its address as Custom. It runs the same way as any other connector: SplitPop acts as you, with your role in each group.

Can Claude put my receipt on the expense?

Not the photo itself. Claude can read it and enter the expense, but SplitPop can’t receive the file from Claude. SplitPop returns the expense’s link, which Claude can share, and you attach the photo there in the app.

Does Claude ask before it saves?

SplitPop tells Claude to read back the amounts and people and wait for your yes before it records an expense or a payment or changes who is in a group. Claude also asks before it uses a tool, depending on the permissions you set for SplitPop under Customize, Connectors. Pressing a card’s button is your confirmation.

How do I disconnect it?

Choose Disconnect on SplitPop under Customize, Connectors, or pause every assistant at once under Connected apps in your SplitPop profile. On Free, Pro and Max you can also remove it there; on Team and Enterprise only an Owner removes it. What Claude recorded stays in the group.
